Life in Porec

The town once belonged to Austria, then fell into Italy’s hands at the start of the 20th century. As a peninsula, it became part of the Republic of Venice. It is now in the region of Istria, in the North-West of Croatia. Today, the charming town of Porec is a tourist destination, but it has lost none of its original character.

Must-sees

Explore the layout of the town. It dates from the Roman period, with its narrow, parallel streets. Stroll along its pretty lanes lined with colourful houses to reach Marafor Square at the edge of the peninsula. Here two Roman temples sit proudly, one dedicated to Mars, the other to Neptune. Don’t miss the Euphrasian Basilica, a monument dating from the Byzantine Empire and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Things to do in the local area

There are a thousand and one things to do in Porec. From cycling to scuba diving to a wide range of boat trips. In summer, the town is lit up by magnificent fireworks. Dance the night away to jazz music in the Lapidarium, or at a pop concert. Take part in the Street Art Festival or explore the Porec Regional Museum.

A pleasant climate

Plan your holiday between April and September to see Porec at its best. It has a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers. In July and August, the sea temperature is ideal for swimming in the waves or relaxing on the beach. A stay at our Porec campsite will make for an unforgettable holiday in Croatia.
