In 2019, La Ciotat Bay was designated the "Most Beautiful Bay in the World" by the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club.
The World's Most Beautiful Bays Club was founded in 1997, and currently has 41 members in 27 countries. La Ciotat Bay is now part of this exclusive club. It aims to promote, enhance and protect the most beautiful bays while respecting the environment and being a responsible destination. Members include Along Bay (Vietnam), San Francisco Bay (USA), Mont Saint-Michel Bay (France-Basse Normandie) and the Gulf of Morbihan (France-Brittany).

Created in 1985 and awarded in 46 countries, the Blue Flag label is given to towns, harbours or beaches which make a decisive effort to protect the environment, in particular, to raise awareness, preserve the region and manage water pollution.
